Vyacheslav Chernukho-Volich

Chief conductor
Vyacheslav Chernukho-Volich graduated from the Department of Opera and Symphony Conducting of the Belarusian Academy of Music in 1994 in the class of Professor G.P. Provatorov and his master's degree in 1996 in the class of Professor A.M. Anisimov. He began his conducting career in 1992 with the Minsk Wind Orchestra "Nemiga". In 1993 he became the conductor of the Belarusian State Theater of Musical Comedy, from 1995 to 2019 he was the conductor of the National Academic Bolshoi Theater of Belarus. In 2001, he became the chief conductor of the Opera and Ballet Theater of the city of Mersin (Turkey). From 2002 to 2004 - Chief Conductor of the National Academic Bolshoi Theater of Belarus, from 2016 to 2017 - Chief Conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of the Belteleradiocompany. From 2012 to 2019 - conductor of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Musical Theater. The maestro's repertoire includes over 50 operas and ballets of world and national Belarusian classics. Staged about 20 opera and ballet performances in theaters in Belarus, Russia and Turkey. Collaborates with theaters and symphony orchestras of Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Cyprus and China. Participated in numerous opera and ballet festivals in Belarus and other countries. The most significant of these are the annual international opera festivals in Solothurn, Switzerland (1998-2003). At different times such stars as D. Giacomini, L. Nuchi, R. Bruzon, P. Burchuladze, L. Shemchuk, S. Fisichella and many others took part in these festivals. In 2001, under the baton of Vyacheslav Chernukho-Volich, the world premiere of the opera “Jubilee” by the Belarusian composer Sergei Cortes based on the play by A. Chekhov took place. In 2003 he took part in the international opera festival "Golden Crown" in Donetsk; in 2008-2011 - at the annual Shalyapin International Opera Festival in Kazan (staging of the opera "The Tsar's Bride" by N. Rimsky-Korsakov for the opening of the 2008 festival). Staged I. Stravinsky's ballets The Firebird and The Rite of Spring as part of Stravinsky's jubilee festival at the Novaya Opera Theater (Moscow) with the ballet troupe Vasilev and Kasatkina. On April 21, 2019, he made his debut at the Great Concert Hall of the Moscow Conservatory as part of the Dinara Aliyeva International Opera Festival "Opera Art" with the Russian National Orchestra conducted by M. Pletnev. Participant of numerous tours with troupes of the Belarusian Opera and Ballet Theater, MAMT named after Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko, as well as the Tatar Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after M. Jalil. Has toured in Germany, France, Great Britain, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Japan, China and Thailand. For many years Vyacheslav Chernukho-Volich has been popularizing classical art in Belarus. He is the author and creator of the festivals "Night of the Opera at Mir Castle", "Christmas Opera Forum" and "Evenings of Opera and Ballet in Nesvizh". Laureate of the Special Prize of the President of the Republic of Belarus “For Spiritual Revival”, laureate of two national theater prizes of Belarus - for staging the operas “Nabucco” and “Aida” by G. Verdi. He was awarded the Francis Skarina Medal. Associate Professor of the Department of Opera Training of the Belarusian Academy of Music.
