Macciardi Fulvio

He was born in Milan, where he studied humanities and graduated in violin from the Civica Scuola di Musica in Milan. He subsequently attended the Masterclasses taught by violinist Wolfgang Schneiderhan for two years at the Lucerne Conservatory.

He worked as a violinist (from 1979 to 2003) and as a conservatory teacher. Since the early 2000s, he has been involved in the artistic management of opera houses, initially at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste, first as head of artistic organisation and management, and then, from 2006, as Artistic Secretary. From 2008 to 2015, he served as Director of the Artistic Area of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, and from 2015 to 2017, as General Director, achieving the objectives of the Restructuring Plan and contributing to the implementation of the business plan. Since September 2013, he has also served as Artistic Director of the Opera School of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna. Since 2014, he has been a professor in the Master's Program in Entertainment Entrepreneurship at the University of Bologna – Alma Mater Studiorum.

In 2017, he was appointed Superintendent and Artistic Director of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, reappointed for a second term in April 2020. That same year, he was also named Cultural Ambassador of the City of Bologna. During his tenure as Superintendent of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, he managed the Foundation during the complex pandemic period, finding solutions such as relocating the theatre's performance activities to the PalaDozza. In 2022-2023, he oversaw, developed, and co-designed all the relocation operations of the Comunale (closed for renovations since November 2022), contributing to the construction and implementation of a new and atypical theatre, the Comunale Nouveau, located at the Bologna Fair and inaugurated in February 2023.

Since October 2022, he has been elected President of ANFOLS (National Association of Opera and Symphonic Foundations), after previously serving as Vice President for three years. He led and implemented, in collaboration with all stakeholders (national trade unions; ARAN – Agency for the Negotiation Representation of Public Administrations; Ministry of Culture), the renewal of the National Collective Bargaining Agreement for workers of opera and symphonic foundations, which had been stalled and not renewed for twenty years.

He has been a member of the European Cultural Parliament (ECP) since 2022, and has been a member of the Board of Opera Europa since 2023.
