1st International young opera singers competition of the Odessa National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre

The Odessa Opera invites young singers to a competition!

The International young opera singers competition is created by the Odessa National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre and will be held biennially. This year the competition will be held from 21^st to 26^th of June 2022 at the Theatre, separately among the singers of all vocal categories, citizens of Ukraine and other countries, that possess a Master’s, a Specialist’s or a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field of study without working experience requirement. The age requirement is 25 - 35 years old as of the time of the competition.

The main goals of the competition are:

• To promote and preserve the best examples of Ukrainian and world opera heritage, as well as domestic performing arts
• To discover the best solo singers of Ukraine and the world, establish creative contacts and share experience
• To improve the level of performing skills and stage culture of performers
• To spread public awareness of the academic opera arts
• To help integrate national arts into the world cultural space and expand international cultural connections

The competition will be held in three rounds:

• 1^st round – 21^st-22^nd of June 2022
• 2^nd round – 23^rd-24^th of June 2022
• 3^rd round – 25^th of June 2022

The competition will include an opening ceremony, the audition performances, press conferences, round tables, master classes, creative meetings with prominent figures of musical and theatrical arts, an award ceremony and the winners’ concert.

The winners of the competition will receive awards and diplomas. The winners of the Grand Prix and other winners may receive an invitation from the Odessa National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre to perform one of the lead parts in the current repertoire performances. The Theatre may invite the winners to perform during 2022-2023 in the opera or concert performances on the terms determined by the Theatre.
